Elm City Market - Winter Career Fair 2015

Elm City Market to Hold Winter Career Fair on Jan. 13

Job seekers are welcome and encouraged to come and network with non-profit organizations that support job placement and other services in the New Haven area; Elm City Market itself is looking to fill 15 jobs


 Elm City Community Market, Inc., an employee-owned marketplace located in the heart of New Haven, Conn., today announced that it will be holding an Elm City Market Winter Career Fair on Tuesday, Jan. 13 from 9 am to noon. At the event, area job seekers are welcome to come and network with non-profit organizations that support job placement for the long-term unemployed, veterans, those transitioning to the community after incarceration, and those who are displaced or homeless.

At the Career Day, Elm City Market itself will also be filling 15 job openings, including:
  1.       Management Trainee (2 positions)
  2.       Head Cashier (2 positions)
  3.       Stock Clerk (3 p/t positions)
  4.       Deli Clerk (3 p/t positions)
  5.       Kitchen Prep Associate (2 p/t positions)
  6.       Cashier (3 p/t positions) 
Organizations participating in the Elm City Market Career Day include Columbus House, which fosters the personal growth and independence of those who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless; Step Up for Vets, Connecticut’s Subsidized Training and Employment Program; Career Resources Inc. - STRIVE-New Haven, a job training resource organization that helps the long-term unemployed; TheConnection.org, an organization focused on building healthy, caring communities; and Elm City Echo, a newspaper featuring content created by the homeless community in New Haven.

The City of New Haven’s Human Resource Department will also attend to publicize upcoming job opportunities for the city.

For the Elm City Market positions, the store is looking for workers who love serving customers and have a passion for food, according to Elm City Market President Doug Berson. “Our greatest pride is seeing our team members grow, develop and achieve things they never dreamed possible.
