New Summer Menu at Fresh Salt at the Saybrook Point Inn

Social Media Promotion - Sponsored

One of my favorite restaurants on the Connecticut shoreline, the Fresh Salt restaurant at Saybrook Point recently introduced a NEW summer menu that features seasonal dishes inspired by the harvests of local farmers and fisheries and invited us to visit for a sampling.

It's certainly no surprise that Fresh Salt was recently named Best Upscale Dining in Connecticut by the state’s restaurant industry association, You see, Fresh Salt works closely with its local farmers and artisans to ensure the highest quality of locally grown ingredients from land and sea go into its creative delights. Add to the list of local items - an incredible view of Long Island Sound and a busy marina and you know Fresh Salt is a win-win for dining.

At Fresh Salt, guests will savor fresh, seasonal and local cuisine served in Old Saybrook’s most spectacular setting – the spot where the fresh waters of the Connecticut River meet the salt of Long Island Sound. It's a treasured and historic place, rich in life, and the restaurant reflects that lively diversity. Chef d’ Cuisine Gese Rodriguez offers a simple yet high quality approach to transforming the fresh seasonal ingredients of Connecticut into beautifully inspired dishes.

At our most recent outing to Fresh Salt at the Saybrook Point Inn, here are some of the items we enjoyed, from cocktails to appetizers to entrees to dessert.

Cocktails:

We loved the ingenuity used in all the cocktail creations and I especially enjoyed this tall Foggy Harbor Raspberry Mist pictured below that featured Connecticut's own Foggy Harbor Vodka, muddled with fresh raspberries and mint!

Appetizers

With everything from a raw bar selection to hearty pork shanks we tried to sample a wide array of items from seafood to salads to soups. The cowboy loved the heirloom tomato and peach salad, and we've already recreated it several times at home since then! Don't you just love when you get some creative ideas from your favorite restaurants that you can replicate at home?

You simply can't go wrong with anything at Fresh Salt. The atmosphere is fun and festive and the food is always wonderful. I loved my seafood "ciopinno" stew - and the leftovers the next day were even better after everything had an additional day to infuse flavors!

In addition to the items we sampled the new summer menu features the bounty of the season through unique pasta dishes such as “Beggar’s Purse,” which is fresh pasta filled with pear, Taleggio, Robiola, Ricotta, English peas, asparagus, and cherry tomatoes in a white wine sauce; and Cavatappi Primavera with broccoli, asparagus, cherry tomato, oyster mushroom, yellow pepper, and olive oil in a white wine sauce. Entrée prices range from $19.95.
