Flinders Lane - Stamford CT - Brunch

Social Media Promotion: Sponsored

Brunch at Flinders Lane in Stamford CT

In the fall of 2017,  restaurateurs Chris Rendell and Chris McPherson introduced Flinders Lane to the city of Stamford! Flinders Lane is an Aussie themed restaurant and gathering place that pays homage to the multi-cultural Flinders Lane eclectic food scene found in the owners’ Melbourne Australia homeland.

Menu- Spring 2018
Note: Prices and offering are subject to change

Located on Stamford’s flourishing “Restaurant Row” on Summer Street, Flinders Lane takes up ground floor residence in the newly erected Summer House Luxury Apartments. The restaurant is certainly making its mark on the city with its boldly flavored and ingredient-driven land and sea menu, innovative beverage program, and whimsical and fun décor.

This is a place to enjoy great food - and have a lot of FUN!

Taking its cues from the original Flinders Lane, which Chef Rendell and McPherson opened in New York’s East Village in 2014, the menu incorporates more than just Aussie fare, and embraces today’s international food culture. Whether incorporating Southeast Asian influences or French-inspired techniques, the dishes feature a fresh, honest approach when highlighting the ingredients.

The kitchen is under the direction of Chef Brad Stewart, who hails from New South Wales, Australia’s beautiful wine country. Brad’s culinary journey is deeply rooted in high-end hotels and resorts throughout New York, DC, Australia, and Thailand.

And quite frankly, I could listen to Chef Brad speak with that great Aussie accent,

ALL.   DAY.   LONG.

The 80-seat restaurant includes a convivial bar and adjacent high-top and banquette seating. The beverage program stays true to the menu’s international slant and fresh attitude, which includes a wide array of uniquely named cocktails, like the Lillet Rose, the Melbourne CBD, and the Limoncello Collins.

The also have a great draft beer selection!

Here are some of the BRUNCH items we sampled this spring 2018.

We started with some traditional breakfast items.

Berry Wheat Cakes

Poached Egg and Greens
on Avocado Toast

Mushroom Toast
 And then we moved on to the appetizer, entree, and sandwich items.

Oysters

Meat Pie of the Day

The Summer Salad Sandwich

The 'Roo Burger

We ended our visit with some amazing desserts. Many are from Chef Brad's family's favorite 'secret recipes'! Uh, hello! Can I be related to the Stewart family so I can have these recipes????

"Mum's" Carrot Cake

Grandma Stewart's
Sticky Bread Pudding

Pavlova

And I couldn't resist a little Aussie Espresso to end the most amazing brunch!

Be sure you visit Connecticut's own "land down under" at Flinders Lane soon! You'll be glad you did!

Viceroy Publik House comes to Downtown Stamford CT

A new restaurant fusing the best of British and Indian heritage and tradition is coming to Stamford CT. That's right, The Vicery Publik House, soon to be THE cultural connection in downtown Stamford is set to open in April 2017!

Viceroy Publik House in Stamford CT

Taking a page from history, from what is now referred to as the “British Raj”, the British rule over the Indian subcontinent between 1858 and 1947, Viceroy Publik House pays homage to this now proud British and Indian cultural connect, offering a high energy English pub setting featuring London curry, pakoras and pints, and an edgy live music venue which is just as diverse as its menu. Located in Downtown Stamford, CT, Viceroy Publik House brings together these two cultures, rich in history and with a strong food and drink identity found in pubs throughout London.

A Publik House, “Pub” for short, was artfully designed by the British, dating as far back as the 1300s. Its focus was that of a gathering place where beer and cider were merely offerings within the pub’s social or political confines.  Over the years the concept grew and other cultures (Irish, Canadian, Australian, etc) brought their own food, drink, and entertainment to these neighborhood haunts, often a product of a town or family’s legacy.  Viceroy Publik House embraces its British namesake as the public face of the British presence in India, which ultimately carried with it strong Indian influences found throughout the British culture, namely its artistic and culinary presence.

 Located in a bi-level townhouse at 211 Summer Street, music promoter and innovative Stamford restaurateur Eric Monte has created an elevated pub experience lifted from the streets of London. Shepherd’s pie, fish & chips, Faroe Island salmon, and bangers ‘n mash share space with spicy vindaloo, madras, and samosas, favored pub fare to be accompanied by a pint.

 “The wheel has already been invented, “explains Monte, “Our goal was to simply create a style of restaurant and bar that spoke to the core values of a traditional English pub – historic influences and all.”

Owned by entrepreneur Ramya Lakshman, Viceroy Publik House enriches the dining scene along downtown Stamford’s “Little Summer Street”. Its entranceway is marked by the car hood of a vintage Triumph Bonnet, and suspended within the first floor’s picture window is a ‘68 Triumph Bonneville motorcycle, a product of the UK ethos. The street level dining room and bar is framed in carved mahogany wood and regal chandeliers, offering guests a menu filled with classic English pub fare, Indian curries, and libations presented in an intimate setting.

 The Tiger Room, Viceroy’s second story alter ego and music lounge is home to Monte’s signature musicians’ den. Featured on The Tiger Room’s Heineken Stage is an on-going spirited jam session among underground musicians, pop culture artists, and rock ‘n roll royalty with national acclaim. Monte, a consummate host with either a menu or a microphone in hand, has assembled a house band which will be the backbone to a robust schedule of music genres, as well as the area’s first live music karaoke night.

NOIR Stamford - Globally Inspired Cuisine on Summer Street

Globally Inspired Cuisine - Casual & Intimate Setting - NOIR Stamford

Here's a new word for me!  “Bistronomie”

And it's being introduced to Fairfield county by way of NOIR Stamford!

Inspired by the Europeans, and now making its way stateside, Bistronomie is a progressive form of dining derived from the mashing together of ‘bistro’ and ‘gastronomy’.  Call it five-star cuisine sans the white tablecloths and pretense of a stereotypical high end restaurant. It’s a new day, and chefs, as well as consumers, know what they want to eat and how best to enjoy their dining experience.

NOIR Stamford, spearheaded by veteran art dealer Carrin Schechter, introduced this innovative dining style to Stamford this past November, adding to the city’s robust culinary landscape.

The menu takes its cues from across the globe, with an undeniable and delicious nod to French cuisine. Chef Francisco Ciciliano, formerly of Baldanza Natural Market & Café and Bistro Bonne Nuit in New Canaan, infuses vibrancy and warmth, taking familiar dishes and making them new again.

Seasonal menu highlights include;

  • Escargot prepared with garlic, parsley butter and toasted bread crumbs;
  • Tuna Tartare with caper lime dressing;
  • Slow Braised Short Rib served with house made sauerkraut, kale, lemon confit, and herb relish;
  • Real French Onion Soup Gratinee with crostini and melted Gruyere;
  • Avocado Salad with charred baby kale, mache, Manchego cheese, and orange vinaigrette;
  • Crispy Duck Breast with sweet potato puree and Grand Marnier sauce;
  • Stonington Sea Scallops with chive mashed potato and haricot verts;
  • Braised Lamb Shank with crispy onions, pickled vegetables and duchesse potato;
  • Steak Frites Au Poivre served with hand cut French fries and béarnaise Brussels sprouts; \
  • Pappardelle with pesto cream sauce, garlic shrimp, and marinated tomatoes.

Enhancing the culinary experience is a relaxed, while attentive service style and NOIR’s charming dining room setting. Framed in exposed brick walls, bistro chalkboard menus, eclectic FOSartwork, black chandeliers with dangling crystals, large mirrors and hip music, this stylish eatery can seat up to 40 people.

The beverage offerings feature top shelf cocktails such as:

  • The Belvedere martini with blue cheese stuffed olives,
  • The NOIR, shaken with Knob Creek and absinth bitters.
  • The Jazzy Latina made with jalapeño infused tequila, strawberry puree, lime and Cointreau.

  • A stellar wine list complements the cross cultural menu.

Located at 225 Summer Street, a.k.a. “Little Summer Street”, among a melting pot of restaurants and gathering places, NOIR is open for dinner Tuesday thru Saturday and will be offering a Sunday Artist Brunch showcasing the talents of regional artists over spicy bloody Marys and Chef’s Sunday Hash starting in 2016.

You heard right!  There's a pop up patio at the Cask Republic in Stamford CT!

While the outdoor space next door to Cask Republic at 131 Summer Street prepares for a new restaurant to be added to the downtown dining scene, Stamford’s go-to place for comfort food, craft beer and cocktails has taken over the space and added “outdoor seating” to their offerings for the duration of the summer and fall months ahead.

Full dining menu and service can be enjoyed on Cask’s beautiful patio furniture amid the bustle of “Little Summer Street’s” restaurant row.

The Pop Up Patio seats 40 – reserve your table now for happy hour, lunch or dinner.  http://caskrepublic.com/ 191 Summer Street, Stamford, CT
