Did you know that the month of May is National Salad Month????

And in honor of Salad Month - Redpack Tomatoes is holding their second annual "Toss in the Flavor" promotion! 

And here at the Home Place Blog we're teaming up with them to help celebrate!

This year's RedPack "Toss in the Flavor" promotion will run from May 13 to June 10 on Facebook. During this period, RedPack will share their new collection of Redpack salad recipes featuring Redpack Petite Diced Tomatoes along with seasonal fruits and vegetables.

As a part of the promotion, Redpack will be giving away a Grand Prize Picnic Basket that includes all the tools you need to spin, chop, toss, dress and mix your favorite Redpack summer salad.

And here at Home Place we're offering up a Mini-Redpack Kit!

The mini-kit will include Redpack Petite Diced tomatoes, Petite Diced Tomatoes, a Redpack

Tote and some salad recipes, or similar combination.

For a second prize we're adding a two-pack of mason jars - perfect for creating those popular Mason Jar Salads!

Redpack Tomato - "Toss The Flavor" - Facebook Promotion

Redpack Tomato Products, growers and distributors of tomato products since 1942, is celebrating 62 years in the industry by having a fun Facebook Promotion called TOSS IN THE FLAVOR!

The idea behind the promotion is to introduce new and unique summer salad recipes that take advantage of the qualities of its canned tomatoes — juicy, healthy, packed ripe, economical, etc. Because of that, they are perfect for salads all year round.

Redpack's  Facebook promotion will begin on June 11th with a grand prize of a Gourmet Salad Kit worth $220, plus they are giving away 3,000 tote bags during the three-week promotion.

Here's something you might not know...Redpack is TOMATO-CENTRIC — it's the only vegetable they grow, and so they’re passionate about tomatoes.

To get everyone started on the summer salads, I'm sharing one of Redpack's Test Kitchen's Salads, the Chicken Blueberry Chopped Salad. You can Toss In The Flavor, too!

CHICKEN BLUEBERRY CHOPPED SALAD

MAKES 6 SERVINGS

2½ cups butter lettuce, chopped
2 ears grilled corn, cut off the cob or 1 cup frozen corn, thawed
1 cup chopped cooked chicken
1 avocado, chopped
1/3 cup fresh blueberries
1 (28 ounce) can Redpack Petite Diced Tomatoes or 2 (14.5 ounce) cans Redpack Petite Diced Tomatoes, drained and rinsed
2 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
1/3 cup crumbled feta cheese
Salt and black pepper to taste
1 cup light raspberry vinaigrette

 In a large salad bowl combine lettuce, corn, chicken, avocado, blueberries, Redpack Petite Diced Tomatoes, bacon and cheese.  Sprinkle with salt and black pepper then toss thoroughly.  Pour dressing over salad, and then toss once again.  Serve with tortilla chips.
