The 2nd Annual Mohegan Sun Tequila Tasting

Last weekend, on Friday, July 20th, we traveled up I-95N to visit Mohegan Sun for their Second Annual Sun Tequila Tasting! 

If you love the smoky elixir of the blue agave plant as much as I do, then put this event on your "must do" list for next year!

Here's a little history on the background of Tequila. Did you know it was one of North America's first indigenous distilled spirits? Tequila was first produced in the 16th century near the location of the city of Tequila, however, the city itself was not officially established until 1666. This fermented beverage from the agave plant was consumed in pre-Columbian central Mexico before European contact. When the Spanish conquistadors ran out of their own brandy, they began to distill agave to produce what we now know as Tequila. And since July 24th was National Tequila Day, Mohegan Sun's Tequila Tasting 2018 was a great preface to start our own Tequila celebrations!

We decided to spend the night on site, because, well, T.E.Q.U.I.L.A! We were lucky enough to score a room with an amazing view of the beautiful rolling hills of southeast Connecticut.

And now on to the Tequila Tasting and some Mohegan Sun Hot Summer Fun!

I simply could not believe the variety of premium flavors and tastes that were included at this event. Food and drink were included with the admission fees! And I loved the new location in the Expo Center over in the Earth Tower. Although it's a bit removed from some of the gaming areas, it's definitely an easy walk, and on the way there we stopped outside and enjoyed a beautiful sunny patio.

There was SO MUCH to eat and drink --- and lots of water for in-between and palate cleansings.  Food was placed strategically throughout the expo center so it made for some easy food and drink pairings. What a perfect combination of food, fun and spirits!

Mohegan Sun sure knows how to throw a tequila tasting! Be sure you're there next year!

One of my FAVORITE events of the summer returns to Mohegan Sun with their second annual Sun Tequila Tasting!

What: Tequila lovers can discover a variety of premium flavors and aromas when Mohegan Sun’s Tequila Tasting returns this summer.  

When: Friday, July 20th, 8:00pm to 11:00pm

Where: Earth Ballroom in the new 125,000 square-foot Expo Center with outdoor patio

Get ready to toss back some tasty tequila during Sun Tequila Tasting on Friday, July 20th. Salted, sugared or with lime, Mohegan Sun has it all!

SunBBQ Fest at Mohegan Sun June 13th & 14th 2015

SunBBQ Fest Returns To Mohegan Sun Rain or Shine

SunBBQFest takes over the Winter Parking Lot and it's tie to get fired up for some finger-lickin’ fun during Sun BBQFest.

On June 13th & 14th, savor the flavors of the best barbecue around with festivities featuring live music, a beer trailer, barbecue battles, local vendors, food trucks and so much more you can sink your teeth into!

Tickets for the event are $5.00 per day and go on sale Friday, April 24th through the Mohegan Sun Box Office. Children 6 and under have free admission!

Wings, Ribs & More!
Get in on all the BBQ action and decide who reigns supreme during the People’s Choice Contest all weekend long. Purchase samples from each vendor and cast your vote for the ultimate best at Sun BBQFest. Competition remains fierce on Saturday with a Wing Contest from Noon to 3:00pm followed by a Rib Challenge from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. For $5.00, each contest offers a sampling of wings or ribs for you to judge! A portion of the proceeds benefits the Sun BBQFest official charity, Operation BBQ Relief.

If relaxed, non-competetive snacking is more your style, peruse the impressive lineup of food trucks and vendors! The Wethersfield Famer’s Market will be on-site offering some of the best fare alongside the endless supply of Kansas City BBQ Society meats and over 30 vendor options to choose from! Wash it all down with a selection of beers including Bud, Bud Light, Yuengling and Sam Adams. Select cocktails will also be offered for $7.00, perfectly refreshing on a hot summer day!

Entertainment Galore
No festival would be complete without some live entertainment. The Winter Parking Lot spices things up with music, demos and a fireworks show to celebrate summertime and all things BBQ.
Be entertained all weekend long with live music on the main stage. Green Tea Band, Whiskey & Rye, Jay Dempsey Band, The Attiks and the Stephanie Hansen Band will be providing the beats for this epic parking lot party. Throughout the weekend, learn the tricks of the BBQ trade during demos and Q&A sessions on the main stage.

Saturday night goes out with a bang! 
Don’t miss a spectacular fireworks display. The fireworks kick off at 9:30pm and are guaranteed to be fun for the whole family.

SunBrewFest Returns October 4th & 5th to Mohegan Sun

The Third Annual Sun BrewFest returns on October 4th & 5th featuring microbrews, craft beers, and more!

Sun BrewFest returns to Mohegan Sun on Saturday, October 4th and Sunday, October 5th with a variety of finely crafted brews certain to please any palate. Be sure to treat yourself to a weekend of beer tasting capped off by an exclusive Sunday BrewBrunch.

Saturday Tasting Sessions
Tap into up to 200 of the best beers around during one of the two tasting sessions on Saturday, October 4th. Explore a wide variety of breweries pouring out 2 ounce samples of their favorite beers for guests to enjoy in souvenir, mini pilsner glasses. Try and find your favorite as you taste your way through Craft Beers, Microbrews, Imports, Domestics and ciders. Live music keeps the entertainment going all day long inside Mohegan Sun’s Uncas Ballroom.

BrewBrunch
The fun continues to flow on Sunday during a special BrewBrunch sponsored by Goose Island and Absolut from 11:00am to 2:00pm. The BrewBrunch features beer infused cocktails and an array of brunch items, each and every recipe containing Goose Island beer! If you’re all brewed out, don’t worry, Absolut will help you create your own signature Bloody Mary for the perfect brunch beverage.

Ticket Information:

• Tickets to the tasting sessions are $25.00 each. The first session runs from 1:00pm to 4:00pm and the second session runs from 7:00pm to 10:00pm.
• Tickets to the BrewBrunch are $60.00 each and include all food and drink.

Packages start at $599.00 and include an overnight stay at Mohegan Sun’s luxurious hotel on Saturday, October 4th as well as two tickets to the first tating session on Saturday October 4th and two BrewBrunch tickets on Sunday October 5th.

Tickets for Sun BrewFest go on sale Friday, August 22nd at 10:00am at the Mohegan Sun Box Office and Ticketmaster. A portion of all ticket prices will go to the American Red Cross. Tickets will be required for entry to all events. All guests in attendance must be 21+.

Redeem your Taste of the Sun ticket at the gazebo located in The Shops Concourse to receive your button and wristband. You can taste ten samples by stopping by any participating restaurant and giving your server one tab from your wristband for each sample you try.
