Dia de los Muertos

A Mexican Celebration

Bodega Taco Bar Welcomes Departed Spirits Home

Saturday, November 1, 2014

Bodega Taco Bar Fairfield, 1700 Post Road, Fairfield CT
Bodega Taco Bar Darien, 980 Post Road, Darien CT

Bodega Taco Bar presents Dia de Los Muertos,   "Day of the Dead", one of Mexico’s most important festivals since pre-Hispanic times. While it may sound a bit macabre,   the day is actually met with great joy as families gather to welcome the souls of the departed on their annual visit home.

Likened to the spirited mayhem that ensues on Hallow’s Eve, Bodega’s Dia de Los Muertos party will take place on Saturday, November 1 at both locations. Ghoulishly decorated with Dia de Los Muertos’ traditional skeletal vibe and eerily transformed, Bodega will offer activities and food and drink specials including:

  • Kids Face Painting and Tattoos During Lunch
  • Food Specials Honoring the Deceased All Week
  • Traditional Sugar Skull Decorating
  • Special Cocktails Featuring Roca Patron Tequila
  • Saturday Night Party with Patron Tastings and a Pig Roast In Darien
  • Ford Econoline Bar in Fairfield

Community Plates - Food For All 2014 Benefit

The Darien Community Association was the setting for the 2014 Community Plates Fairfield County benefit fundraiser.

The Community Plates Food For All 2014 (#FoodForAll2014) benefit supports the direct-transfer food rescue organization dedicated to ending food insecurity in America. Featuring some of Fairfield County’s newest and best restaurants and the area's top bartenders, this is the showcase benefit to support the fight to end hunger

The event highlights the organization’s goals for the coming year and is their signature fundraising event. as well as the perfect venue for celebrating the year's accomplishments.

Attendees had the opportunity to learn more about Community Plates and their newly developed GoRescue application, the organization’s award-winning web and smartphone enabled interactive food rescue scheduling tool which connects food-service organizations that gather and donate food that would otherwise be wasted; to food runners, who give of their time to pick-up and deliver food donations; to the receiving agencies that ensure donated food gets to those in need throughout the community.

From the moment we arrived to the Darien Community Association and were greeted by Match Restaurant's resident mixologist Adam Patrick, we knew we were in for a fabulous evening

Adam Patrick - Match Restaurant

And, the evening only got better, as we sampled some of the finest wines, cocktails, and small bites from the area's restaurants and food purveyors. Beginning with srichia deviled eggs from the Granola bar to a happy ending with an organic dark roast coffee at Shearwater Coffee Roasters, the benefit was the perfect way to spend an early fall evening under the moon and stars raising money for a worthy cause.

Bodega Taco Bar's Cinco de Mayo Weekend Celebration

Bodega Taco Bar Gears Up For Their Cinco de Mayo Celebration Weekend

Both the Fairfield and Darien Locations will serve up a fun mixture of margaritas, food, and festivities!

Bodega Taco Bar is keeping tradition alive and well with their popular Cinco de Mayo Fiesta. With the maiden voyage of the Bodega Food Truck this month, there will be even more to celebrate. Beginning Friday, May 2 thru Monday, May 5, the indoor / outdoor festivities include Bodega’s signature Mexican inspired fare, tequila tastings, cocktail specials, live music and dancing.

Celebration highlights include our self-proclaimed "Year of the Pig" menu which includes; roast suckling pig plato, pork belly lollipop, pork chop stack with green apple chimmichuri, roast pork mexi-ramen bowl: cracklin' pig taco, and pork and crab dumplings. Sunday Family Cinco Brunch is family fun day with a piñata, games, and Bodega’s version of "touch a truck" with the new Bodega Food Truck. Tequila infused revelers can dance to Latin DJ spun tunes at both locations Saturday night.

The first  Bodega Taco Bar opened its doors in the spring of 2011 in Fairfield and has gained a reputation for its innovative take on handcrafted Mexican street food, creative cocktails, and its edgy design. Fans were thrilled when Chefs Michael Young and Luis Chavez, along with restaurateur Mario Fontana opened the Darien location in 2012.

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo the Bodega way.
