RHK Seafood Boil and Bar Opening in South Norwalk CT

Coming to South Norwalk CT

RHK SEAFOOD BOIL & BAR

RHK Seafood

South Norwalk, or as I like to call it --  "SoNo" -- will soon be home to a Cajun inspired new restaurant, RHK Seafood Boil and Bar opening on June 10, 2021 at 19 North Water Street in the heart of South Norwalk directly across from the Maritime Aquarium! In addition to their Cajun-inspired seafood boils they're featuring some unique new American flavors!

Many of you are familiar with owner Ockyheon Byeon of RoundK in New York City, so you know the restaurant will also feature an extensive beverage program, including custom milkshakes and coffee beverages incorporating brews from its sister RoundK brand.

“With nicer weather upon us and people able to more safely dine together, I’m looking forward to introducing lower Fairfield County to Cajun-inspired seafood boils, where the goal is to gather, eat and have a good time,” said owner Byeon.  “At this point in time where we are all craving to spend more time with friends and loved ones, my goal for our restaurant is to become a fun, delicious and inviting gathering place for families with children visiting the Aquarium, co-workers over lunch and friends looking to grab a late night drink.  Our location in the heart of SoNo invites us to be something for everyone with the diverse population here, and my team – including executive chef Ben Wang and general and beverage manager Spencer Wawak - has worked hard to craft both a food and beverage menu that fulfills this variety of customers!”

The star of the all-day food menu – the Cajun-inspired seafood boil - allows diners to select their locally-sourced seafood and sides and customize the seasonings and heat level, before the cooked-to-order boil arrives at the table wrapped in a plastic bag with plastic bibs and gloves for a fun, interactive and messy meal. What could be better than that??  Other house specialties on the lunch and dinner menu include the Redhook Cajun Ramen Noodle made from the broth of the boils, the house burger, sandwiches, salads, vegetarian options (including a vegetarian boil) and children’s menu.  In addition to the all-day menu, an abbreviated lunch menu is also available.

With a focus on Japanese Whiskey, the beverage program includes beer, wine, nautically-inspired cocktails and custom milkshakes, as well as drinks integrating coffee from its sister RoundK brand in New York.

“While we are excited to initially open for lunch and dinner service, we are already planning a dedicated brunch menu, as well as grab-and-go options for people working in the area (or remotely from home), or families looking for an option to enjoy while sitting by the water,” added Byeon.  “While seafood boils are fun when enjoyed in the restaurant, they’re even more fun in your own backyard, so we will also be soon launching a takeout program, as well as catering options to invite groups to enjoy together!”

I don't know about you, but I can't wait for BRUNCH! This is the perfect location and spot for an easy breezy meet up with friends! And with a menu this good - I can only imagine how fabulous their brunch offerings will be!

Inside, the restaurant features a nautically-inspired motif playing off of the seaside concept featuring large windows, fish nets, ship wheels, shellfish, oars and portholes.  There's plenty of room at the bar, which offers 15 seats, with an additional 50 seats at high-top and communal tables in the open space, in addition to a back dining room with 50 seats.  This back room has fully closing doors to offer a private dining space as well.

RHK Seafood Boil and Bar will be open Monday – Wednesday from 12pm – 10pm, Thursday from 12pm – 12am, Friday – Saturday from 11am – 12am and Sunday from 11pm – 10pm, expanding to offer weekend brunch, grab-and-go and takeout options in the coming weeks, as well as on- and off-site private event options.

Reservations are accepted via OpenTable or Resy, or by calling the restaurant at (203) 956-7171.

The restaurant name merges the new South Norwalk product ‘R’ with their existing Round K Café ‘K’ brand, with the ‘H’ in the middle as the bridge between the two.  Whether seafood in South Norwalk or coffee in New York City, their mission to inspire people to gather, eat/drink and have a good time together remains the same.

About RHK Seafood Boil and Bar:

Tickets for Interactive Performance Experience begin on June 7

Highlights from the 2021 event include (schedule subject to change):

  • Full Moon at the Meadow, in support of Pilobolus, will take place on Friday, July 23 from 7-10pm.  The festivities will begin with a VIP experience through the car safari, followed by live music, libations and farm-to-table hors d'oeuvres from local culinary icon Cassandra Purdy in an open air barn on the farm under the full moon.  Tickets – including a donation to Pilobolus – begin at $500.

  • Morning Wellness Programming throughout all five festival days, taking place 8-10am.  Pilobolus once again brings outdoor wellness classes - yoga, meditation, balance, tai chi and family classes - led by Connecticut-based wellness practitioners.  Mats and equipment will not be provided on site; participants are encouraged to bring their own mats, blocks, cushions and blankets.  Tickets are $30 per person, per session.

  • This year’s car safari will take place July 21 – 25 with start times ranging from 10:00am – 5:45pm.  Guests will be invited to drive through an idyllic New England Farm, offering scenery of an apple orchard, sprawling fields of wildflowers, ponds, woodland and more, while enjoying live, 365-degree performances from artists including Stuart Bogie, Kat Edmonson, Rob Kapilow, Darlene Kascak, Litchfield County Choral Union, dancers from Pilobolus, Ben Sollee and local student musicians.  Cars will travel in pods of 10-12 vehicles, and guests will be invited to enjoy the performances from their vehicle, or step out to be fully immersed in the art.  Timed-entry tickets for the 75-minute interactive experience begin at $50 per vehicle.  An option to add-on a curated snack box from Chef Purdy is also available to pre-purchase for $10.

“Last year we were able to pivot and transform our Festival into a safe and engaging experience like no other, and in response to the incredible feedback from sold out audiences, we hit the road to scout out a new site for this year’s roving performance,” said Renée Jaworski, Co-Artistic Director, Pilobolus.  “This year is a celebration of our journey around the sun. Much has transpired. Much has been learned. As we move into a more normal summer, we want to celebrate our victory, while acknowledging our failures. We plan to encourage connection while remembering what we lost.”

“Our goal with BLOOM is to create a journey of our shared human experience; I promise that you can expect the unexpected with Pilobolus with a little something for the whole family,” added Matt Kent, Co-Artistic Director, Pilobolus.  “There will be performances floating on water and flying through the sky.  There will be music on the water, dancers in the woods, colors in the trees. There will be stories, secrets and surprises along the way. This year provides new opportunities to exit your car, enjoy the call of birds and be bathed in healing sounds.”

Tickets will officially go on sale June 7 on the Company’s website – www.pilobolus.org - through TodayTix. On the chance of inclement weather, rain accommodations on July 26-27 will be communicated to ticket holders in advance of their arrival.

Event FAQs – including the pet policy, safety guidelines, directions and more – are available at www.pilobolus.org/bloom.
