Month-Long Celebration to Include Property-Wide Offers and Events 

“The best is yet to come” never rang so true as Foxwoods® Resort Casino prepares to honor “Ol’ Blue Eyes” throughout the property during the month of December.  Highlighting the festivities will be a full-scale, property-wide birthday party during “Sinatra Weekend,” December 11th - 13th, culminating with a special not-to-miss performance of Sinatra songs by Robert Davi on Saturday, December 12th.

“As a world-renowned Frank Sinatra tribute artist, Robert Davi’s performance makes perfect sense in his ability to recreate the ultimate Sinatra experience, just as Frank Sinatra, Jr. has delivered in the past,” stated Monique Sebastian, Foxwoods VP of Entertainment & Marketing.  “In light of Mr. Sinatra opening the Fox Theater in 1993, we can think of no better performer to commemorate that milestone event.”

This once-in-a-lifetime show will take place in Fox Theater – the venue the legend himself opened in 1993. A limited number of Frank Sinatra commemorative gaming chips have been exclusively commissioned for Foxwoods and will be in action on select table games.  The gaming chips will available in $5, $25 and $100 denominations.  Additionally, Foxwoods will play host to an exclusive $500k Blackjack tournament in the Stargazer Casino.

Sinatra Signature Cocktail - Frank’s Way “The 3-2-1” 

Guests 21+ are invited to toast “The Sultan of Swoon” with a Jack Daniel’s Sinatra Select, Frank’s Way “The 3-2-1” – three rocks, two fingers and a splash of water. “The 3-2-1” will be available all month long at Al Dente, Cedars and Paragon restaurants.

Sinatra Art 

World-renowned pop artist Peter Max is celebrating the life of Frank Sinatra with a series of paintings depicting “the Chairman of the Board.”  Max has created more than 25 works of Sinatra, showing the crooner in various stages of his career surrounded by Max’s bold color schemes.  A mini exhibition of these Sinatra prints will be on display outside the Fox Theater.  This stunning presentation will be on display for a limited time.

OktoberFest at Foxwoods!

When you think of the gaming casinos in CT - your thoughts automatically go to black jack, roulette, bingo, and slot machines.

But there is so much more to do at Foxwoods Casino than gamble! There are comedy and music shows, shopping, family shows like the Cirque Eloize, shopping, restaurant specials, shopping, and fun events like this month's OktoberFest. Oh, and did I mention shopping? In addition to some great high end stores like FolliFollie, there is also an entire outlet, the Tangier Outlets that feature just about every great store there is to feature! (Think Kate Spade, J Crew, Talbotts, Vineyard Vines - and MORE)

This month we headed up over the weekend to Foxwoods Casino and Resort to take part in their OktoberFest Celebration.

In addition to their OktoberFest $20,000 Bingo Tournament, Cedars Restaurant and the Veranda Restaurant are featuring German Food Specials - and there are OktoberFest beer kiosks set up in Cedars Tower.

We started off at Cedars Restaurant (http://www.foxwoods.com/cedars.aspx) where we sampled 8 German beers. Though I'm not a huge beer drinker there were some I loved, like the Paulaner Munchen Oktoberfest Marzen and the Kasteel Rouge - and others that were a bit to strong for me. But I'm a trooper - I sampled a sip of each. Even the sour beers. Yup - there are people that actually develop a taste for smokey, sour, and sweet beers!

We had about 30 minutes before our next stop, so we managed to get in a little shopping. Here's a little beauty I have my eye on over at FolliFollie.

And this is what I mean by there is so much more to do than game at Foxwoods -- after shopping we went bowling. That's right! BOWLING! I traded in my high heels for some bowling shoes and bowled away. And the cowboy even won a prize that night from within our little group for having the most strikes! That's my guy!!

I couldn't believe there was such a beautiful bowling alley right in Foxwoods! It's called the High Rollers Luxury Lanes and Lounge. But, you don't have to be a "high roller" to bowl there. After bowling, we headed back up to Cedar's Restaurant for some great German Food, more German Beer, and some delicious dessert!

All in all it was a fun night to remember! And we can't wait to go back and have some more fun!

Cirque Éloize ID at Foxwoods Resort and Casino CT

Last week we had the opportunity to travel up to Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Mashantucket CT to see the amazing Cirque Éloize ID show at Foxwood's Fox Theater.

The show is an incredible blend of hip-hop, break-dancing, contortionists, acrobatics, juggling, cycling, aerialists, and rollerblading, set to the beat of a hip urban soundtrack created by composers Jean-Phi Goncalves (Beast) and Alex McMahon. Yup! All that - in one action-packed show!

Cirque Éloize, a leader in the contemporary circus arts since 1993, has presented thousands of fun-filled and innovative performances around the world. The troupe, consisting of 15-22 performers with international backgrounds, gives a heart-pumping, jaw-dropping, breath-holding, beautifully choreographed show that will dazzle audiences of all ages.

The Cirque Eloize show at Foxwoods Resort Casino is family friendly with something for everyone! The name "Cirque Eloize" translates to "heat lightening" and the performance truly is electrifying!

We were part of a special media event that got to meet the performers and watch them showcase their talents prior to the show! I learned how to juggle!

We learned so much about these performers backgrounds. Our juggling instructor actually has a degree in juggling! We also got to learn some trampoline tricks, and see the backstage setting where it's all about organization and timing!

This show was the highlight of our visit to Foxwoods, which also included dinner at the Red Lantern and a shopping excursion in the new Tangiers Outlets.

The beautiful Paragon Restaurant at Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Connecticut was the location of a recent wine pairing dinner, celebrating the wines of Huneeus Vinters and featuring the Quintessa Winery.

Upon arrival we were greeted with a glass of Flowers Chardonnay (Sonoma Coast 2013) and enjoyed some delicious passed hors d'oeuvres

Our small bites course was a wonderful pairing of wine and appetizers. Each one was delicately prepared to offer the perfect blend of flavors in each morsel.

Flowers Chardonnay Sonoma Coast 2013 

Winemaker Notes: Light straw hue. Lively aromas of Meyer lemon zest and lime blossom are underscored with hints of crisp Comice pear and crushed, coastal stones. The palate confirms the nose and is heightened by a driving minerality and vibrant acidity that carries through on the lingering finish

Paragon Restaurant - Small Bites (passed)

Paragon paired this crisp Chardonnay with four delicious small bite appetizers. While each was delightful, my personal favorite was the Point Judith Skate Wing, the subtle heat from the Chili Anchovy Paste was amazing and made for a nice contrast with the bright flavored wine.

Paragon Restaurant: House Gin Cured King Salmon Salad

The salad was not only beautiful, it was hearty and deliciously briny, with a nod to Paragon's Italian roots with hints of Mediterranean flavors.

We kept with the pairing of reds with seafood dishes for our second course.

Faust Cabernet Sauvignon 

The Wine Advocate - "The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Faust is designed as a second wine so that only the top lots end up in the Quintessa. It exhibits a dense ruby/purple color, sweet creme de cassis fruit, chocolate, licorice and underbrush characteristics in a delicious, fruit-forward, open-knit style. Enjoy it over the next decade or more."

The Cabernet Sauvignon paired beautifully with Paragon's Monfish.

Quintessa Red 2011

Connoisseurs' Guide - "Deep, beautifully focused, ripe currant fruit teams with lovely oak sweetness from beginning to end here, and, while the two are stunning and as neatly fit as can be, the wine goes beyond fruit and the barrel with layers of dusty soil and mineral complexities running its length. It is both substantial and uncannily sleek and light on its feet, and it is structured as to age famously. Its tannins are ample yet fine enough to allow mid-term drinking, but we have every reason to believe that this outstanding offering will only grow better and better over the course of the next ten years."

Thorn Merlot 2012

Winemaker's Notes: Deep purple in color, releasing aromas of black cherry with hints of cedar and pencil lead. Dense flavors of dark fruits and rich plum are framed by velvety tannins and a lush finish.

Dessert: Organic Chocolate Crémeux pistachio sable, roasted cherries, vanilla tonka bean cream, pistachio chantilly

From start to finish this was a wonderful wine pairing dinner. Each wine was described in detail by the Huneeus team, and each course was not only delicious and plated beautifully, but any questions about preparation were promptly answered by by Renato, our knowledgeable waiter. 

This was my first time dining at Paragon, and it most certainly will not be my last. The atmosphere was quite lovely, service was impeccable, food was fabulous, and the views from the 24th floor are indescribable.

In addition, the wines were thoughtfully selected to accompany each course perfectly.
