Cirkopolis at Foxwoods Resort Casino

This week we were invited to visit Foxwoods Resort Casino to view the opening day performance of Cirkopolis - Cirque Éloize's latest production that runs April 11th through April 15th at Foxwoods' Fox Theater.

Cirkopolis is a bit more 'gritty' than the last two shows Cirque Éloize presented at Foxwoods (read about them HERE and HERE). In Cirkopolis, the backdrop is a factory setting with black, white and grey tones depicting a shadow-like city skyline and revolving gear shifts from within a factory setting. The colorful costumes of many of the performers come to life and stood out beautifully from the monochromatic setting.

I thought the factory and work-themed backgrounds might not be a popular theme for the family-oriented audience, but I couldn't have been more wrong. There is plenty of humor and daredevil action to keep the children entertained -- and mom and dad on the edges of their seats.

Cirkopolis bills this production as:

"...  a breathtaking blend of circus arts, theatre and dance to a highly-stylized metropolis setting where multidisciplinary artists rebel against monotony, reinvent themselves, and challenge the limits of the factory-city as only they can. Performing within an inventive stage design and accompanied by an original musical score and video projections, they live in a world where fantasy defies reality—the veil of anonymity and solitude is lifted and replaced by bursts of humour and colour. Cirkopolis transforms the classic film Metropolis into a virtuosic circus spectacle for the whole family."

Cirque Éloize Saloon Runs Through August 21st at Foxwoods

   Last weekend I received an invite to attend the opening night of Cirque Éloize Saloon at the Fox Theater at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut. Because I knew my friend Dorene's granddaughters would LOVE this show - the four of us decided to make it a girls-night out!

The show's opening night was on Friday, August 12 and will run through Sunday, August 21 for a total of 12 remarkable performances at a variety of family-friendly show times in the beautiful Fox Theater!

Cirque Éloize expresses its inventive nature through combining physical energy with theatrical poetry. Éloize is a word that comes from the Magdalen Islands and means “flashes of heat lightning seen on the horizon.” The lightning symbolizes the heat and energy which feeds the troupe’s spirit and is a true inspiration from the founding members.

After the show we were able to meet the cast members and the girls were thrilled to be able to see the stars up close - and get their autographs!

Cirque Éloize ID at Foxwoods Resort and Casino CT

Last week we had the opportunity to travel up to Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Mashantucket CT to see the amazing Cirque Éloize ID show at Foxwood's Fox Theater.

The show is an incredible blend of hip-hop, break-dancing, contortionists, acrobatics, juggling, cycling, aerialists, and rollerblading, set to the beat of a hip urban soundtrack created by composers Jean-Phi Goncalves (Beast) and Alex McMahon. Yup! All that - in one action-packed show!

Cirque Éloize, a leader in the contemporary circus arts since 1993, has presented thousands of fun-filled and innovative performances around the world. The troupe, consisting of 15-22 performers with international backgrounds, gives a heart-pumping, jaw-dropping, breath-holding, beautifully choreographed show that will dazzle audiences of all ages.

The Cirque Eloize show at Foxwoods Resort Casino is family friendly with something for everyone! The name "Cirque Eloize" translates to "heat lightening" and the performance truly is electrifying!

We were part of a special media event that got to meet the performers and watch them showcase their talents prior to the show! I learned how to juggle!

We learned so much about these performers backgrounds. Our juggling instructor actually has a degree in juggling! We also got to learn some trampoline tricks, and see the backstage setting where it's all about organization and timing!

This show was the highlight of our visit to Foxwoods, which also included dinner at the Red Lantern and a shopping excursion in the new Tangiers Outlets.
