There's so much going on at Foxwoods Resort Casino for the Holiday Season! Recently they hosted a visit by the adorable Lindsay Stirling for her Warmer in Winter Christmas Tour, and in the last few weeks they have headlined such top entertainment as 98 Degrees which featured new singles from their NEW Christmas album, and Celtic Thunder: Symphony Tour the music and dance troupe that features authentic Irish instruments, dramatic lighting and amazing choreography.


Tonight, Saturday, December 3rd,  is the incredible Mannheim Steamroller Christmas Show which is the sound of the Holidays personified.

And in the weeks to come there will be visits by Santa Claus, the Mystic Aquarium's Penguins, and a visit from all of Santa's Reindeer!

Mannheim Steamroller Christmas by Chip Davis

WHEN: December 3, 7:30 p.m.
WHERE: Grand Theater
GRAMMY Award winner Chip Davis directs and co-produces the Mannheim Steamroller show, featuring holiday classics and dazzling multimedia effects bringing the spirit of the season to life. The Mannheim Steamroller Christmas Tour remains a holiday tradition for many families with repeat attendance from multi-generational guests and is one of the longest running tours in the music industry. Visits from Santa 

WHEN: December 2-3, 9-10, 15-17, 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
WHERE: Celebration Zone
Here comes Santa Claus! This December, Santa will be at the Celebration Zone to take photos and hand out candy canes and blinky pins. Stop by in the afternoon from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. to share a cup of hot cocoa with jolly old Saint Nick himself!


Penguin Encounter 

WHEN: December 9, 1:00 p.m.
WHERE: Grand Lawn and Terrace located across from Premier Ballroom
Waddle on over to Foxwoods on Saturday, December 9 and get up close and personal with the penguins from Mystic Aquarium. Your holidays will surely be brighter when you meet their happy feet!


Reindeer Feeding 

WHEN: December 16, 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., December 17, 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
WHERE: Grand Lawn and Terrace
Join in on the reindeer games at Foxwoods when real live reindeers fly in straight from Santa’s Workshop at the North Pole for feeding sessions and great family photos.

New London CT Historic Church Tour

It's a Holiday Church Tour in New London, CT 

with New London Landmarks!


Visit three historic churches in New London for a holiday tour with live music at each location on Saturday, January 7th 2017 starting at 1:00pm!  New London Landmarks hosts this family-friendly walking tour that will be held rain or shine!

  • First Stop and Check In: St. Sophia's Greek Orthodox Church, 200 Hempstead Street. The Sistine Chapel of New London will include St. Sophia's Choir singing Christmas hymns in Orthodox faith tradition.
  • Second Stop:  St. James Episcopal Church, 76 Federal Street. See several original Tiffany windows in this 1850 Richard Upjohn masterpiece with performance by Kia A. Baird, Soprano accompanied by Sue Caplet, piano.
  • Third Stop: St. Mary's Star of the Sea, 10 Huntington Street. Decorated for Christmas, enjoy sounds of magnificent organ in this 1876 Gothic Revival Church.
  • Final Stop and Refreshments:   Reception at New London Landmarks, 49 Washington Street. Enjoy coffee and treats at the historic David Bishop House.

(approximately 1 mile walk round trip)

The walking tour starts at Sophia’s Church at 200 Hempstead Street in New London on Saturday, January 7th at 1:00p.m.  
See magnificent architecture, learn history of building and listen to live music.  $15 admission / $10 members.

The Hartford Artisan Showcase Returns to Hartford

Returns to the Connecticut Convention Center


Regional Artists Give Live Demonstrations All Weekend


From paintings to pottery and metal arts to jewelry, unique and original art will be in abundance at the Connecticut Convention Center for the Second Annual Hartford Artisan Showcase.

This juried event features an exciting way to feature original art and high-quality crafts throughout the weekend.

The Hartford Artisan Showcase will feature the work of over 75 artists from across New England. The Showcase is the perfect opportunity for art collectors and those who simply enjoy art to discover regional artists, purchase original work, and experience art through live demonstrations.

Demonstrations at the Showcase include:

  • Tim Scull of Canton Clayworks in Canton, CT will give a pottery demo.
  • Weaving demos from New England Rug Maker out of Danbury, CT.
  • Hart Woodcrafts from Ledyard, CT will demonstrate woodworking.
  • David Hancock, Jr. a furniture maker from Thompson, CT will hand-craft chairs.

Photo and interview opportunities with all of the demonstrating artists will be available throughout the weekend.

Show Hours: 

Saturday, November 12, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.;
Sunday, November 13 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Chilifest 2015 in Westport CT - You Be The Judge!

Chilifest is a pre-Super Bowl event that takes place on Feb. 1, 2015 at Bedford Middle School in Westport CT from 11AM to 3PM.   Just like its sister event, Chowdafest, everyone is given a spoon, ballot and pencil, and the opportunity to sample 18 different kinds of chili and to vote on their favorites.

Chilifest will feature THREE categories of chili:  classic beef, creative chili (turkey, vegetarian, green etc.) and “Firehouse” chili.

Twelve local restaurants will compete in the classic and creative categories while firefighters from the Fairfield, Norwalk, Trumbull, Weston, Westport and Wilton Fire Departments are slated to compete in a separate category for best firehouse chili.

Jim Keenen, event director for Chilifest says,

“We're excited to find out which restaurant people believe has the best chili - and equally thrilled to be holding a separate competition to determine what firehouse makes the best chili too. Fire departments are famous for their chili. Some of these fire fighters really know their way around the kitchen."

The Firehouse category is sponsored by Local Kitchen & Beer Bar of Norwalk and Fairfield to remind people to support their LOCAL fire department.
