Shell and Bones Happy Hour for Spring 2017

Happy Hour at Shell and Bones

One of my favorite things to do once the weather warms up is to meet friends for a quick happy hour during the week. It's a nice way to catch up with one another without feeling that any of us are stealing time from our family -- or neglecting other facets of life (like work, children, cooking, cleaning, car-pooling, shopping, etc.!)

And, because friends are such a very important aspect of my life - we should celebrate in style, right??

So ... isn't it just the perfect coincidence that Shell and Bones Oyster Bar is launching their new spring offerings for happy hour - just when I get the hankering to plan a meet up with friends?

I think so!!!

You should enjoy this fun location too! Shell & Bones Oyster Bar is located directly on the waterfront in New Haven CT - so it's the perfect location to get together for a few hours and enjoy breathtaking views of Long Island Sound. It's a win-win that there's a delicious new happy hour menu to go along with it all.

Barnum Publick House in Bridgeport CT

Media Event - November 2013

This week Barnum Publick House in Bridgeport CT held a small promotion to feature some of their delicious appetizers and specialty cocktails.

This was my first time there and I absolutely loved the cozy atmosphere of the restaurant. It features a good sized bar and a small L-shaped dining room, with an open and airy feeling.

There were plenty of signature cocktails available on the menu, each designed by house bartender "BootlegGreg," but I was intrigued by one of the new offerings, a Pumpkin Cocktail made with real pumpkins and Tanduay Rum. While it was very good, I thought presentation could be pumped up a notch with an herbed garnish (maybe a rosemary sprig?) or a spiced cinnamon and sugar rim.

We sampled some of Barnum Publick House's renowned appetizers, the Stonington Calamari, Lump Crab Cakes, and Short Rib Nachos.

Barnum House Appetizers

Each of the appetizers were very good, with a slight differentiation from their traditional namesakes. The Stonington Calamari. were made in a spicy flour, with a sweet chili sauce for dipping. The Short Rib Nachos were made with a sweet seasoned shortribs, jalapenos, tomatoes,  creamy cheese sauce, sour cream, and, instead of the typical corn tortilla chips, these were made of Barnum Publick House's made on premise Potato Chips.  The Lump Crab Cakes were probably my favorite appetizer served at Barnum, made with lots of lump crabmeat, warm corn relish, lemon, and served on drizzled tartar sauce.

For dinner, we moved down the street to Bistro B, sister restaurant to Barnum Publick House. More on our review of Bistro B HERE.

The Barnum Publick House is a great place to stop for lunch, happy hour, or dinner, and serves up some great American Pub Fare at affordable prices.
