Apple Harvest Festival in Southington, CT

Update: The 45th Apple Festival in Southington CT will be held over two weekends in 2013
October 4-6 & October 11-13, 2013.
Theme: "A Harvest of Memories".

We had an APPLE - LICIOUS day at the Southington Apple Harvest Festival!
Just look at this Apple Crisp!

The Town of Southington CT certainly rolled out the APPLE-red carpet to celebrate the 44th Annual Apple Harvest Festival!   What a festival it is!  Probably one of the best of the year, this festival takes up at least three city blocks surrounding the town green and features great crafts, great art, great food, and...of course, everything APPLE!  All are easily accessible with free parking via a shuttle bus, and some great lots nearby for only $5.00!

There are APPLE eating contests, APPLE fritters, APPLE sundaes, APPLE crisps, and more!  Everything and anything to celebrate the fall season and the apple harvest!  This festival is so phenomenal that it actually takes place over the course of two weekends, typically the last weekend in September and the first weekend in October.  The PERFECT time to take a drive in Connecticut and view the beautiful fall leaf colors changing on all the trees.

The theme of this year's Festival is "Ripe with Possibilities"

We arrived at around 12:30 and the festival was in full swing!  This festival does get crowded so it's probably a good idea to get there early if you can.

Here's some pictures of the booths that we stopped at, some items we liked, and other things that caught our eye!

The sweet pink folks at Dunkin' Donuts were out
offering free samples of their new Pumpkin White Chocolate Lattes
Thumbs up from these two coffee lovers!

Row after row of crafts in every shade of autumn

Some of my favorite items were found at Dee's Handmade Crafts pictured below
where I purchased this Christmas' Mantle top Reindeer!

What's that you say??? It's too early for Christmas?
I think not!  There were lots of
Christmas items available!
There's handmade scarves
Beautiful objects

 lots and lots of jewelry
 beach themed Christmas decor

There's also live demonstrations!

Art galore!

and other fun items!

But...what's a festival without food??

And what's this Fest's best offering?  Apple Fritters, of course!

These delicate and delicious morsels have lines forming early.  Be prepared to wait to enjoy!
The best way to get some?  Enter the Fritter Eating Contest!

There's piping hot apple crisps - with and without whipped topping
Hot Apple Sundaes! Veggie platters and fried onion rings!
And delectable bakery and pastry offerings!

...and of course, some yummy chocolate, from my friends at Sweet Cioccolata!
(Pssst: Remember when we Cash Mobbed them: read here!)

This is one of the best fairs in Connecticut especially when it comes to craft vendors and APPLES!

A festival not to be missed!

  5. I can't tell you how much fun this post was to read, though it made me more than a little homesick! I grew up in Southington so the Apple Harvest Festival was part of my life every October. In fact, I was even an apple harvest hostess my Senior Year of High School. I now live in Arizona, which I love, but always long for a trip back to New England every fall. Must remember to check out your great site before planning such a trip.

    1. Thanks so much Martha! I'm always trying to find new things to do in CT and New England! So much to do in our little backyard! The Apple Fest is one of my favorite events - they have the best food and craft shows in the fall!

Hope you're loving AZ! I have friends there but don't get there often enough for our liking! Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
