RHK Seafood Boil and Bar Opening in South Norwalk CT

Coming to South Norwalk CT

RHK SEAFOOD BOIL & BAR

RHK Seafood

South Norwalk, or as I like to call it --  "SoNo" -- will soon be home to a Cajun inspired new restaurant, RHK Seafood Boil and Bar opening on June 10, 2021 at 19 North Water Street in the heart of South Norwalk directly across from the Maritime Aquarium! In addition to their Cajun-inspired seafood boils they're featuring some unique new American flavors!

Many of you are familiar with owner Ockyheon Byeon of RoundK in New York City, so you know the restaurant will also feature an extensive beverage program, including custom milkshakes and coffee beverages incorporating brews from its sister RoundK brand.

“With nicer weather upon us and people able to more safely dine together, I’m looking forward to introducing lower Fairfield County to Cajun-inspired seafood boils, where the goal is to gather, eat and have a good time,” said owner Byeon.  “At this point in time where we are all craving to spend more time with friends and loved ones, my goal for our restaurant is to become a fun, delicious and inviting gathering place for families with children visiting the Aquarium, co-workers over lunch and friends looking to grab a late night drink.  Our location in the heart of SoNo invites us to be something for everyone with the diverse population here, and my team – including executive chef Ben Wang and general and beverage manager Spencer Wawak - has worked hard to craft both a food and beverage menu that fulfills this variety of customers!”

The star of the all-day food menu – the Cajun-inspired seafood boil - allows diners to select their locally-sourced seafood and sides and customize the seasonings and heat level, before the cooked-to-order boil arrives at the table wrapped in a plastic bag with plastic bibs and gloves for a fun, interactive and messy meal. What could be better than that??  Other house specialties on the lunch and dinner menu include the Redhook Cajun Ramen Noodle made from the broth of the boils, the house burger, sandwiches, salads, vegetarian options (including a vegetarian boil) and children’s menu.  In addition to the all-day menu, an abbreviated lunch menu is also available.

With a focus on Japanese Whiskey, the beverage program includes beer, wine, nautically-inspired cocktails and custom milkshakes, as well as drinks integrating coffee from its sister RoundK brand in New York.

“While we are excited to initially open for lunch and dinner service, we are already planning a dedicated brunch menu, as well as grab-and-go options for people working in the area (or remotely from home), or families looking for an option to enjoy while sitting by the water,” added Byeon.  “While seafood boils are fun when enjoyed in the restaurant, they’re even more fun in your own backyard, so we will also be soon launching a takeout program, as well as catering options to invite groups to enjoy together!”

I don't know about you, but I can't wait for BRUNCH! This is the perfect location and spot for an easy breezy meet up with friends! And with a menu this good - I can only imagine how fabulous their brunch offerings will be!

Inside, the restaurant features a nautically-inspired motif playing off of the seaside concept featuring large windows, fish nets, ship wheels, shellfish, oars and portholes.  There's plenty of room at the bar, which offers 15 seats, with an additional 50 seats at high-top and communal tables in the open space, in addition to a back dining room with 50 seats.  This back room has fully closing doors to offer a private dining space as well.

RHK Seafood Boil and Bar will be open Monday – Wednesday from 12pm – 10pm, Thursday from 12pm – 12am, Friday – Saturday from 11am – 12am and Sunday from 11pm – 10pm, expanding to offer weekend brunch, grab-and-go and takeout options in the coming weeks, as well as on- and off-site private event options.

Reservations are accepted via OpenTable or Resy, or by calling the restaurant at (203) 956-7171.

The restaurant name merges the new South Norwalk product ‘R’ with their existing Round K Café ‘K’ brand, with the ‘H’ in the middle as the bridge between the two.  Whether seafood in South Norwalk or coffee in New York City, their mission to inspire people to gather, eat/drink and have a good time together remains the same.

“Last year we were able to pivot and transform our Festival into a safe and engaging experience like no other, and in response to the incredible feedback from sold out audiences, we hit the road to scout out a new site for this year’s roving performance,” said Renée Jaworski, Co-Artistic Director, Pilobolus.  “This year is a celebration of our journey around the sun. Much has transpired. Much has been learned. As we move into a more normal summer, we want to celebrate our victory, while acknowledging our failures. We plan to encourage connection while remembering what we lost.”

“Our goal with BLOOM is to create a journey of our shared human experience; I promise that you can expect the unexpected with Pilobolus with a little something for the whole family,” added Matt Kent, Co-Artistic Director, Pilobolus.  “There will be performances floating on water and flying through the sky.  There will be music on the water, dancers in the woods, colors in the trees. There will be stories, secrets and surprises along the way. This year provides new opportunities to exit your car, enjoy the call of birds and be bathed in healing sounds.”

Tickets will officially go on sale June 7 on the Company’s website – www.pilobolus.org - through TodayTix. On the chance of inclement weather, rain accommodations on July 26-27 will be communicated to ticket holders in advance of their arrival.

Chef Brian Lewis Brings The Cottage to Greenwich CT

Coming to Greenwich CT soon!

Chef Brian Lewis' "The Cottage" Restaurant!

One of my favorite Fairfield County chefs, Brian Lewis, the chef and owner of OKO and The Cottage, both in Westport, recently announced some great news - that he will be expanding and bringing The Cottage to beautiful Greenwich, Connecticut!

The Cottage Menu

The Cottage will be located at 49 Greenwich Avenue in Greenwich, and the 60+ seat restaurant and bar will celebrate exceptional seasonal ingredients sourced from local purveyors and farmers through Chef Brian’s celebrated signature style of American cooking, delivered with casual elegance and coastal charm. The Cottage Greenwich is slated to open later this year. Stay tuned for their opening date!

“We’ve always looked forward to the day that we can bring The Cottage to a new market after being so blessed with our devoted clientele and hardworking team in Westport,” said Lewis.  “As we experienced such continued support during COVID and after six successful years in Westport, the time was right to grow and find a sister location to complement the original Cottage.”

While the Greenwich location will feature several signature Cottage dishes and cocktails, the food and beverage program will reflect the team’s daily creativity inspired by the seasons, while staying in concert with the Westport Cottage location. Both the food and beverage menus at The Cottage Greenwich will be rely upon ingredients from local purveyors and farmers in the Connecticut and New York area.  The menu will feature Cottage favorites including Wagyu Beef Brisket Steam Buns, Duck Fried Rice, The Cottage Burger and Hot Fudge and Peanut Butter Sundae. In addition to these classics, Chef Brian is looking forward to yet another canvas to express his culinary passion and creativity.

The beverage program will also include local products in its seasonal menu. Cottage bar favorites such as The Smokey Peat and The Spicy Pear will be featured alongside both classic and signature cocktails. An international wine list will be curated of both new and old world favorites, offer a full selection of local craft beer, and provide low or no alcohol options.

“At our soon-to-be four restaurant locations of Full House Hospitality Group, the team will always be the heartbeat of our restaurants,” added Lewis.  “I’m pleased to be embarking on this location in a new market with the leadership and talents of both Chef Christian Wilki, who oversees all culinary operations as Executive Chef, and Ralph Leon, who oversees all front of house operations as our Director of Beverage and Hospitality. We thrive on bringing talented, hardworking, and dedicated team members up through the ranks of our restaurants.”

The Cottage Greenwich will feature the same warm, comfortable aesthetic and color scheme found in the Westport location, but with several accents unique to the space.  Architect Rick Hoag from Frederick William Hoag Architect and Interior Designer Megan Zwick from MZ Interiors will oversee the build-out and design.

Since opening in Westport December of 2015, The Cottage has received numerous accolades for its locally sourced cuisine, including recently being named the #1 restaurant in Fairfield County by Hearst Connecticut Media/CT Bites, and earning an “Excellent” rating from The New York Times.

The Cottage Greenwich will be open Tuesday-Sunday for dinner service, expanding to offer lunch, Sunday brunch and to-go options soon after.

For more information, visit www.thecottagewestport.com or the restaurant’s new social media channels:  Facebook (@TheCottageGreenwich) and Instagram (@TheCottageGreenwich).

About Chef Brian Lewis:

Brian Lewis is one of the most celebrated chefs in the Northeast, lauded for his commitment to quality and seasonally driven American cuisine featured at his restaurant, The Cottage, as well as his love for Japanese cuisine at his newest venture, OKO.  The Cottage, with locations in Westport and Greenwich, Connecticut, was recognized with an “Excellent” review in the New York Times, after only being open for four months, commending Lewis’ sophisticated menu in a cozy setting.  With Forbes proclaiming that OKO’s Westport location is “competitive with the best in Manhattan,” the restaurant opened a second location in 2019 in Rye, New York.

Lewis was also honored in 2018 as a semi-finalist for the James Beard Awards’ Best Chef: Northeast in the 2018.

He first received national recognition as the Founding Executive Chef of actor Richard Gere’s The Bedford Post Inn, a Relais & Chateaux property that featured two destination restaurants, The Barn and The Farmhouse. There, he acquired national acclaim including Esquire Magazine’s “Best New Restaurant” list in 2009, and an “Excellent” review in the New York Times for his thoughtful and consciously sourced cuisine. He launched his first solo venture in March 2012 with elm, where he was once again named to Esquire Magazine’s “Best New Restaurant” list, this time in 2012, before leaving to focus on launching The Cottage in Connecticut’s Westport neighborhood.  Lewis has had the honor of being invited to cook three dinners at the historic James Beard House in New York City, most recently in January 2017 on behalf of The Cottage.  He has made appearances on The Martha Stewart Show, TODAY, Fox & Friends and Beat Bobby Flay.

Raised in Westchester, New York, Lewis discovered his love for cooking at a very early age. He graduated from the Culinary Institute of America with honors and went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree in business Management from Johnson and Wales University. Early experiences working under the guidance of legendary chefs like Jean Louis Palladin and Marco Pierre White strongly shaped Lewis’ culinary style to what it is today.

About The Cottage

The Cottage is the vision of chef Brian Lewis and represents his commitment to produce Connecticut’s premier neighborhood destination for the finest, locally sourced cuisine. With locations in the heart of Westport, Connecticut and opening in 2021 on Greenwich Avenue in neighboring Greenwich, Connecticut, The Cottage elevates the standard for seasonal American cooking delivered with casual simplicity and coastal charm. Lewis’ award-winning dishes are hand crafted with exceptional ingredients procured from local purveyors and farmers responsible for growing, raising, harvesting, and producing within the region. Menus change weekly to reflect the season’s best bounty.  For more information, visit http://www.thecottagewestport.com/.
